CONSTANCE C. ECKERT

Aged 89, one of Tyrone's oldest residents, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John K. Sprankle, 606 West Fourteenth street, Tyrone, at 9.15 o'clock Sunday night. He had recently undergone an amputation of the leg at the Altoona hospital and his condition was improved when he left the institution. A relapse occurred and his condition gradually grew worse, ending in death. He was born at Bellefonte on June 18, 1845, a son of Thomas T. and Martha (McIlvain)[MCELWAIN] Eckert, and on May 21, 1864, was united in marriage with Miss Rosanna Britton, who died a number of years ago. Surviving are one daughter and three sons, Harry T. Eckert of Ardara, Westmoreland county, Mrs. Sprankle and William C. Eckert of Tyrone and George Eckert of Danbury, Conn. Twenty grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild also survive. Mr. Eckert was a member of the First United Brethren Church, the Men's Bible class of the Sunday school and was one of the oldest members of Centre lodge, No. 153, I.O.O.F. Funeral services will be held at the Sprankle home at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. Interment will be made in Stover's cemetery [New Union Cemetery], near Unionville, Centre county.
