From the Palmer Journal, April 15, 1926, page 1, transcribed by Linda Berney:
Rachel Annie Kelly was born at Woodbridge, New Jersey, October 27, 1850, and passed away at the home of her daughter, Minnie, near Cushing, April 11, 1926, aged 75 years, 5 months and 15 days.

She moved with her parents to Beverly, Illinois, where she was married to Charles Grammer, who preceded her in death, May 26, 1923. They came to Nebraska in 1883, locating on a homestead in Gage Valley, where they made a permanent home and reared a family of eight children, two of whom preceded her demise.

After retiring from the farm, they lived in Palmer up to the time of their death.

Mr. and Mrs. Grammer were real pioneers, having come to this county in a covered wagon, and driving their flock with them. They were real factors in developing and building up this county. They took an active interest in the welfare of the community, and the fruits of their labor have benefitted many.

She leaves to mourn her passing, three sons, Henry of Palmer, Seth, of Caldwell, Idaho, and George of Thedford, Nebr., three daughters, Cora of Caldwell, Idaho, Minnie of Cushing, Nebr. and Lottie of Roseville, California, several grandchildren, many other relatives and a large number of friends.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. W. G. Arnold of Cotesfield, at the Christian Church in Palmer at 2:30 on the afternoon of April 13th. Interment was made in Rose Hill Cemetery by the side of her husband.
