Always a good samaritan helping a deaf neighbor get groceries or donating toys to underprivileged children in his area. Johnny was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need..

His grandchildren Melissa and Heidi knew him as (Pop Pop).He died at 64 from a aneurysm. He is loved, adored, and missed every day by his family. Truly the end of an era...

Fun Fact: John enjoyed raising pet parakeets, and he was an avid reader of History, a few favorite books were "The Power of Positive Thinking" by Norman Vincent Peale, "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" by Richard Back, and "The Rat Patrol" stories of WWII, by I.G. Edmonds. He passed these to his granddaughters, along with his love of reading.

I was very young when my grandfather passed but have many happy memories of our time together. He always liked to give my sister Melissa and me hugs, he was very kind and soft spoken. He also loved drinking Tab cola and Canada Dry Ginger Ale, and watching football games on TV alot. He always had a big carton of chocolate malt balls called "Whoppers" ready for us to eat when we visited at his apartment. Often times my sister Melissa would get out the vacuum cleaner and furniture polish and try to do a little cleaning for him and comb his hair. He drove a really nice red sporty car a 1971 Plymouth Duster, we loved to ride in it with him. Sometimes we would all go eat with him at a local steakhouse. One time I remember when Melissa's pet turtle's died , she called Pop Pop crying and he drove over to comfort her. He was truely one of the kindest people I have ever known and perfect grandfather. He was planning to move to the country and live with us before he passed. Not a day goes by when I don't think of him and wish we could all be together again.I know he loved us all dearly, he will always be with me in my heart.

"No Flower More Beautiful" poem By granddaughter Melissa Fleming in 1978 for Pop Pop

No Flower More Beautiful than the one you love, sent down from heaven above. Petal so fragile, and stem of gold, which never wilts and stands so bold. Only a flower could mean so much to smell to see or to touch. Petals of red, light green, only through eyes of love can be seen. Seen through shadows of sadness and despair, may yet bring happiness and aware..
