Ardie Ann Britton

Ardie Ann Britton, a life-long resident of the Cortez area, passed away on Oct. 21 at her residence. She was 55.

Funeral service is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 25, at 10 a.m. at the Rock Springs Baptist Church, 32233 E Highway 160, Cortez. Pastor Brad Ramsey will officiate. Interment will follow at the Summit Ridge Cemetery in Dolores.

A visitation will take place today, Oct. 24, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Cortez Four Corners Funeral Chapel.

Mrs. Britton was born to Dee F. and Delphi M. (Tibbits) Rogers on Jan. 27, 1947 in Cortez. She attended schools in Rico, Telluride, Dolores and Cortez. Mrs. Britton was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church.

On March 17, 1978, she married Larry Britton in Cortez.

Mrs. Britton was employed by the Cortez School District as a bus driver for 20 years. She enjoyed cooking, arts and crafts, and loved her bus students. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, and the best wife in the country.

Ardie Ann Britton is survived by her husband of 23 years: Larry Britton of Cortez; her son: Brian Abeln and wife Rachel of Pleasant View; her daughters: Robin Abeln of Cortez; and Larae Britton of Bayfield; her father and stepmother: Dee and Carol Rogers of Monticello, Utah; her stepfather: Ernie Stevens; her brothers: Leonard Rogers of Price, Utah; Wayne Stevens of Pleasant View; and Marty Stevens of Yellow Jacket; her sisters: Linda Russell of Bloomfield, N.M.; and Claudia Minor of Durango; her grandchildren: Cory, Casy and Crystal McVay; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her mother.

Cortez Four Corners Funeral Chapel, Hale & Gerken are serving the family.
