BELCHER, Kate Elizabeth, 85, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, May 30, 2000. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lawrence Belcher. Surviving is her daughter, Marie Coleman and her special friend, Charles of Roanoke; one grandson, James Wilhelm and his wife, Vicky of Texas; two granddaughters, Teresa Perdue and her friend, Vince of Roanoke and Janice Bradley and her husband, Ira, also of Roanoke; two sisters, Hazel Via of Florida and Mary Burns of Arizona; eleven great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her special friend, Penny; and Kate's companion, "Gizmo." A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, June 2, 2000 at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel with Rev. Roy Shewbridge officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Martinsville, Va. 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 2, 2000. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 1, 2000 at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.
