"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." Revelation 21: 4 KJV

Mrs. Sylvia Gregg "Mancy" "Granny" Alls, the daughter of Boyd "Doc" and Corine Grant Gregg, was born on January 4, 1929 in the Mars Bluff Community of Florence County. On Thursday, August 19, 2010, she entered into eternal rest at her residence, surrounded by her loved ones after an extended illness.

"Granny", as she was lovingly called by her family and "Mancy" as she was affectionately called by others, was educated in the public schools of Florence County. For many years, she worked for the Ashby Gregg Family as a home maker.

In her early life, she was converted and joined Bowers Chapel United Methodist Church. Later in life, she joined Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church where she was a faithful member until her health declined. At Mount Zion, she served on the following ministries: Stewardess Board, McAllister-Witherspoon Missionary Society, Gospel Choir, Celestial Choir, and the Senior Citizens Ministry. She also worked many years at Mount Zion A.M.E. Church with the Florence County Voters Registration Office as a Manager.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob "Jake" Alls; daughter, Martha Lee Alls Alexander; five siblings, Virginia Henneghan, Girlena Davis White, Victor Gregg, Louis Gregg, Fulton Gregg, and Samuel "Bo" Gregg.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories: one son, Levern (Jamie) Alls of Florence, SC; seven grandchildren, Grover, Jr. (Molet) Alexander of Philadelphia, PA; Michael Alexander, Barry Alexander, Yvette Alexander, Kenneth (Angela) Alexander, all of Florence, SC; Yvonne (Kelvin) Charles of Darlington, SC, and Lavon Alls of Texas; 21 great grandchildren, including Sherell Alexander who was reared in the home; two great great grandchildren; one son-in-law, Grover "Mickey" Alexander, Sr. of Florence, SC; one sister-in-law, Edna Gregg of Philadelphia, PA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Special thanks to: the Ascension Hospice Care of Florence; three devoted nieces, Corrine White, Girlena (Boone) Williamson and Julie (Ray) Williams, all of Florence, SC; a devoted cousin, Isabella Brown; and a special friend, Mary Gardener of Florence, SC.
