Harry A. Ranum, a resident of Thief River Falls for many years who was completing a two-year term as alderman, passed away Monday, January 1 at a Fargo Hospital at the age of 50 years. Funeral services will be held this afternoon, January 4 at 2 pm. in Zion Lutheran church with Rev. Leland Steen officiating. The body will lie in state at the church one hour before the time of services. Interment will be in the Greenwood cemetery and the Green Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Harry Arthur Ranum was born December 31, 1911 at Rosewood. He attended school at Rosewood and graduated from Lincoln High School. On July 22, 1939 he was united in marriage to Lillian Alberg at Hazel. After their marriage, they settled in this city where they had since resided except for one year while he was doing defense construction work in Wyoming and Kansas. He had been associated with the Ranum Construction company for 22 years.
He was a member of the Zion Lutheran church and served on the building committee when the new church office was built. He also served on the Boy Scout and Cub Scout
committees and was the institutional representative to the Lake Agassiz council from Zion church.
Surviving are his wife, Lillian, one daughter Judith, two sons, Bruce and James all at home, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Benhard Ranum of this city and one brother Stanley Ranum of this city.
