TWIN LAKES — Funeral services for Brian "Bud" Barney, 32, will be 9:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 7, at Cope Memorial Chapel, Gallup. The Rev. Dennis Gardner will officiate. Burial will be in Gallup City Cemetery.

Barney died July 31, 2010, in Twin Lakes. He was born July 9, 1978, in Gallup, into the Edge Water People Clan for the Salt Water People Clan.

Barney attended Twin Lakes Elementary, Tohatchi Middle and High School. He was employed as a cement laborer and construction worker for various sites. His hobbies included listening to music, hanging out with family and friends. He liked to fish, haul wood, work on vehicles, fix electronics, shooting rifles, take walks with his dog and spoiling his niece and nephews.

Survivors include his parents, Donald and Laura Barney of Twin Lakes; brothers, Bruce Barney of Twin Lakes, Benjamin Barney of Window Rock; sister, Brenda Barney of Twin Lakes; grandparents, Helen Mae James of Twin Lakes, Helen Domingo of Torreon.

Barney was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Frank H. James, Steve Barney; brother, Darrell Dean Jim.

Pallbearers will be Irvin Jim, Cyrus Coan, Zane Watchman, Gerald Jim, Ryan Cadman, Shane Begay, Brian Orillie, Terence Begay.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Twin Lakes Chapter House, following services.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
