Second Lieutenant Hoke was the pilot of U.S. Army Air Corps B-17F Flying Fortress #42-30571, and one of nine crew killed when the bomber crashed twenty miles northwest of Logan, New Mexico. Served with the 333rd Bomb Group, 466th Bomb Squadron from Dalhart Army Air Base, Texas.
