Funeral services for Walter Gruber, 79, of Canton, who died Saturday (June 5, 1976) in Blessing Hospital in Quincy as a result of injuries he received when he fell from atop a ladder while painting a house in Canton, will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Arnold Funeral Home. The Rev. Tillie Cash will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Grove Cemetery. Mr. Gruber was born Oct. 28, 1896 in Canton, a son of Peter and Elizabeth Reiter Gruber. He was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church near Canton. He married Elizabeth Ann Ketha April 3, 1918 in Monticello. He was a self-employed carpenter. Surviving are the widow; a daughter, Mrs. John (Wilma) Hendle of Skokie, Ill., and a brother, Tom of Canton. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
