Former Resident Is Summoned
Funeral services were held at the Windom Methodist church, Windom, Minn., Monday, March 27, 1950, for Robert Cowan, Sr. Rev. Edward Lee was in charge of services with burial in the Lakeview Cemetery at Windom, Minn.
Robert Cowan, Sr., son of Walter and Agnes Cowan was born in Seaforth, Ontario, Canada on August 5, 1861. He was the fourth eldest child of a family of five boys and five girls. When he was a young boy the family moved to Petone, Ill., and when he was approximately 16 years old the family moved to a farm near Paullina, Iowa.
Clara Bell Morton and Robert Cowan were united in marriage on March 5, 1885, at Primghar, Iowa. Immediately following their marriage, the Cowans lived on a farm near Paullina and later moved to Primghar, Iowa, where Mr. Cowan farmed and also worked as a blacksmith.
Mr. Cowan had been in comparatively good health until about three years ago when his health gradually began to fail until he passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Castledine, in Windom at the age of 88 years, 7 months and 19 days.
He leaves to mourn his passing, two daughters, Mrs. C. O. Castledine of Windom, and Mrs. T. W. Mondale of Fairmont, Minn., also two sons, W. M. Cowan of Windom and R. H. Cowan of Storm Lake, Iowa, as well as eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
