Brenda Kay Louden Shipman, 61, Bedford, died at 3:28 a.m. on Friday at St. Vincent Dunn Hospital.

She was born March 9, 1949, to Walter Eugene and Phyllis Ruth (Davis) Louden. She married Dwain Dale Shipman on Aug. 3, 1969, and they just celebrated their 41st anniversary.

She was a kindergarten teacher at Parkview Elementary School for 34 years. She retired in 2005. She had a BS in education from Indiana State University and an MS in education from Indiana University. She was a member of the Indiana State Teachers Association.

Surviving with her husband, Dwain Dale Shipman of Bedford; are a daughter, Trisha (Curt) Moutardier of Sellersburg; two grandchildren, Jack and Abby Moutardier of Sellersburg; one brother, Tim (Shannon) Louden of Bedford; five nieces, Alexa Louden of Bedford, Dale Lynn Ryan of Bedford, Amy Schlenz of Greenswood, Whitney Shipman of Louisville, and Melissa Alvey of Bedford; three nephews, Kye Louden of Bedford, Dereck Vogler of Indianapolis, and Brian Robbins of Portage; three stepnieces and nephews, Adison, Morgan and Seth Watkins; her mother-in-law, Myra Shipman; sister-in-law, Chris (Denny) Robbins; brother-in-law, and Robin (Claudia) Shipman.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Vicky Vogler; and one brother, Terry Louden.

Brenda's wishes were to be cremated and have no services, and her family is honoring her wishes.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home.
