Hans was the prison warden in Christiana (Oslo), Norway, and did not emigrate. However, two of his sons did: Carl and August Aas. Marie's other five children emigrated to America and went by the name of Thompson. Trine was married to Hans Berg; Eline was married to Hans Bangen.
After her husband's death in Norway, Marie emmigrated to America May 15, 1871, with her youngest son, John. They settled in Polk County, Minnesota.
Marie was a member of the Sand Hill Lutheran church. She died March 7, 1893 and is buried in Sand Hill's cemetery.
