LUCINDA COTA GALAGHER DIED AT GOLD FLAT
LUCINDA GALLAGHER, wife of James Gallagher, died at Gold Flat, Monday night. Pneumonia was the cause of death. Deceased was an amiable woman and besides her husband leaves four children to mourn her loss. She was a native of Grass Valley and aged about 30 years. The funeral will take place at Grass Valley tomorrow.

Lucinda Marie Cota, was born in 1863 in Grass Valley, daughter of Narcisse Nelson Cote (who changed the spelling of the Cote name to Cota in USA) and Marie Philomena (Moras/Maurace) Morris. She died on Monday, 22 Feb 1897( date based on newspaper article dated Wednesday Feb 24 1897 in Gold Flat, Nevada Co., CA, USA. Still haven't been able to locate her death certificate or grave.
Lucinda along with her sister Josephine were raised in the Mount Saint Mary's Catholic Boarding School/Orphanage after their mother passed away in Colusa, CA.(shortly after her marriage to Justin Brown)
Their Uncle Frank Morris took the children on trips back to Montana to see their Aunt Amelia Richards, Uncle Charles, cousins Olive and Lizzie.
Lucinda married James Francis Gallagher on 04 May 1887 in Nevada City, Nevada, CA. James is the son of Michael Gallagher (per Uncle Peter's will). James was born in Apr 1853 in New Jersey, USA (per GV records), (or Ireland). He died on 20 Jan 1926 in Grass Valley, Nevada, Calif.
They had five children during their marriage. Lucinda died as a young mother at the age of 34.
