Margaret Louise Almgren, age 94, of Litchfield died on Sunday, December 24, 2006 at the Meeker County Memorial Hospital in Litchfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 28, 2006 at the Church of St. Philip with Father Paul Schumacher Celebrating. Visitation will be held at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home from 5:00 until 7:00 PM with a Parish Prayer service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the mass at church with a D of I Rosary at 10:30 AM. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery.
Margaret Louise Almgren, the daughter of Joseph and Ellen Hughes, was born on March 1, 1912, near Darwin. She grew up and attended rural school near Darwin before graduating from Litchfield High School. Louise was united in marriage to Fred B. Almgren . They made their home in Litchfield where she was active with the Historical Society. She was a member of the Church of St. Philip and the D of I. She enjoyed Playing cards, baking and cooking. She also enjoyed shopping and her two cats, spanky and star.
Louise is survived by her children, Mary Lou Almgren of San Diego, CA, Fred J. and Karen Almgren of Bloomer, WI, Robert Almgren of Litchfield; stepdaughters, Jean and Richard Danielson of St. Francis and Beverly and Clayton Neuman of Ham Lake. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Jeff and Karen Almgren of St. Cloud, Joel Almgren of Maple Grove two great grandchildren, Amanda and Jacob, many step-grand and great grandchildren besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Fred, son Gary, stepdaughter Joyce Peterson, four brothers, John, Emmett, Lloyd, Joe and a sister Anna Dilley.
