Robert Bath, 37 Montgomery Ave., West Pittston, was found dead in his apartment Monday night about 10:30 by a nephew who went to investigate when he failed to hear from Mr. Bath.
Dr. George Hudock, Luzerne County Coroner, assisted by Chief Deputy Joseph Shaver and Deputy Coroner Frank Gubbiotti, attributed death to a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities reported Mr. Bath, who lived alone, did not appear for work at his job as a desk clerk for West Pittston Borough on Monday.
Born in Pittston May 30, 1932, Mr. Bath was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was previously employed in Connecticut. He was a member of Luzerne Avenue Baptist Church, West Pittston.
Surviving are his widow, the former Ellen Reedy; a son, Robert, Jr.; daughter, Deborah Ann; sister Mrs. William Embauer, West Pittston, brother, Benjamin, Lancaster.
Funeral will be held from the funeral home, 509 Wyoming Ave., West Pittston, Thursday night at 8 with Rev. Daniel R. Williams, Jr., pastor of Grace Presbyterian Church, West Pittston, officiating. Interment will take place Friday morning in Gettysburg National Cemetery.
Friends may call tonight 7 to 9 and Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
