Oralee M. Black, 66, of Vanderbilt, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001 at Otsego Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Black was born in Boyne Falls on March 16, 1934, and had lived most of her life in the Vanderbilt area.
She loved taking care of her grandchildren and enjoyed bowling, crocheting, and bingo. For many years she was a seamstress. In addition, she and her husband, Leroy, owned and operated Black's Gas Station.
She is survived by her husband, Leroy; her son, Kenneth of Vanderbilt; her daughter, Gayle (Dave Embree) Black of Vanderbilt; her daughter Lorena (Timothy) Lewis of Alpena; her son, Don (Randi) of Vanderbilt; four grandchildren, DeVonna (Ernie) Lancaster, Nathan Embree, Haley Lewis, and Logan Black; four brothers, Edward (Donna) Lick Jr. of Mount Pleasant, Raymond (Sandra) Lick of Vanderbilt, Virgil (Beverly) Lick of Vanderbilt and Lindy (the late Dora) Lick of Fort Gay, W. Va.; one sister, Marj (the late Bill) Cunningham of Homosassa, Fla.; one aunt, Helen Lyons of Boyne Falls; one uncle, Karl "Cub" (Betty) Howard of Gaylord; many nieces and nephews; and a multitude of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed Lick Sr. and Beulah (Howard) Lick.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 6 at 2 p.m. from the Nelson Funeral Home, Pastor Dave Hugger officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Vanderbilt. Visitation at the nelson Funeral home was on Friday from noon until 8 p.m. and will be on Saturday from noon until the time of services.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice, through the Nelson Funeral Home.
