Graveside services for Mrs. Avie Austin Barnard, 88, a former O'Brien resident, were held Thursday, February 1, at 2:00 p.m. in the O'Brien Cemetery.
Mrs. Barnard died Wednesday morning, January 31, at Baptist Memorial Geriatric Hospital in San Angelo where she had been a patient several years.
The Rev. Bill Trice, pastor of O'Brien Baptist Church officiated, and burial was under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home of San Angelo.
Born June 21, 1890 in Lineville, Alabama, she married John Frank Barnard in December, 1913 in O'Brien. Mr. Barnard, a retired mail carrier died in 1960. Mrs. Barnard had lived in O'Brien most of her life. She was a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, Gerald, of San Angelo; a grandson, Jerry Frank Barnard also of San Angelo and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Dwight Gothard, Danny Walsworth, Billy Gene Johnston, Sam Johnston, and Howard Logan.
