James Romero, 59, of Winslow, died Monday, Aug. 16, 2010.

Mr. Romero was born Dec. 16, 1950. He worked 33 years for the railroad (retired) and served three years in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Victoria Romero; sons Gilbert Romero of Phoenix, and James Romero Jr. (Alyssa Dixon) of Flagstaff; daughters Danielle Casados (Mike) of Surprise, Gabrielle Neyer (Allen) of Show Low, and Jamie Peterson (James) of Taylor; 11 grandchildren; mother Jennie Romero; brother Andrew Romero of Winslow; sisters Frances Quinones of Winslow, Emily Chavez of Flagstaff, Vera Padilla of Tucson, and Anita Baca of Winslow.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert Romero (1995); and brother Arthur Romero (1991).

Holy Rosary will be recited Friday at 9:30 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., at Madre De Dios Catholic Church with Celebrant Father Frank Chacon; interment to follow at Desert View Cemetery. Condolences can be sent to www.greersmortuary.com.
