ST. SIMONS ISLAND -- James Gardner Snyder, 81, died April 27 at Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Washington, N.J., and had lived in Glynn County for the past 42 years. He was a member of St. Simons United Methodist Church, the American Legion Post 166, and the Retired Officers Association. He retired from the Navy as a Lt. Commander, with 20 years of service, and was a veteran of World War II and Korean Conflict.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Mary A. Snyder; three daughters; a sister, Libby Griffin of Tequista, Fla.; a grandson; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
