Forrest Nathaniel "Nate" Brooks, 38, of College Station, formerly of Jasper and Nacogdoches, passed away on Tuesday, August 10, 2010, at his residence. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, August 15, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Services are set for 10 a.m. Monday, August 16 at the funeral home, with burial to follow in I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Nate was born on September 10, 1971 in Nacogdoches to William Terry Brooks and Judy Elaine (Fowler) Brooks. He attended Nacogdoches High School and the Nacogdoches First Church of the Nazarene, where he was active in the Caravan program and achieved the Bresee Award. He graduated from Allen Academy in 1991 and attended Blinn College in College Station. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and attended Aldersgate Methodist Church, where he was active in the Puppet Ministry. Nate enjoyed soccer, tennis, chess, fishing and playing trombone. As a child he was active in soccer and Boy Scouts. He was reading self-help books when he died, to help with his long-term illness.

Nate was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wallace and Emma Gene Brooks and John and Julia Fowler; and his uncle, James Brooks.

Survivors include his parents, Terry and Dr. Judy Brooks of College Station; sister, Margie Brooks-Horton and husband, Donnie of Bryan; aunt and uncles, Lester and Venita Brooks, Harold and Gayle Brooks, and Jim and Lynda Fowler; several nieces; a nephew; and cousins.
