Residence: Colonel lived in the Boone Township-Summitville area all of his lifetime.
Biography: Colonel was a graduate of Summitville High School-Class of 1938. He was a lifelong farmer and owned and operated a backhoe business. He retired from Fisher-Body in Marion in 1990 after 31 years of employment. He was a longtime member of the Summitville Baptist Church. An active member of the Summitville Lions Club, Colonel enjoyed traveling many places at home and abroad on behalf of the Lions. In 1998, he went to Costa Rica with Lions Club International and distributed eyeglasses to the needy, a trip which impacted his life. He was the recipient of a lifetime service award from the Lions Club International. Colonel lived life to its fullest and never missed an opportunity to laugh, especially at himself. He invested himself in his family, exemplifying the principles of hard work, honesty and kindness. It was important to Colonel that all of his grandkids be taught how to fish and to always remember to "spit on your bait."

Officiating: Rev. Don Miller
Interment: Will follow in Forrestville Cemetery in Boone Township
Visitation: Friends may call at the Owens-Noffze Funeral Home, 1009 West Walnut Street, Summitville on Monday, July 23, 2012 from 4 pm to 8 pm or after 9 am on Tuesday at the church prior to the services
