Huntsville – Joseph Louis Schroer (Father Joseph), 91, passed away on July 22, 2010, at the Christus St. Joseph Villa in Salt Lake City. He was born August 19, 1918 in Nashville, Tennessee, to George and Mary Schroer.
Father Joseph was one of the founders of the Huntsville Monastery. He came here in July of 1947 from Gethsemani Abbey in Kentucky. He was general manager of our various industries for a number of years, and was particularly well-known as manager of the Monastery dairy.
Through his work in the dairy, Father Joseph built relationships between the Monastery and many friends in the Ogden Valley area.
Father Joseph's skills as an electrician proved invaluable for the decades that he was with us.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at Holy Trinity Abbey, 1250 S. 9500 E, Huntsville, Utah, under the direction of Myers Mortuary of Ogden.
Interment at the Holy Trinity Abbey Cemetery.
