Richard D. Dieter, Sr., 77 of Kenhorst, passed away August 13, 2010 in St. Joseph Medical Center. He was the husband of Mae C. (Adams) Miller-Dieter. Born in Kenhorst, he was the son of the late Lynton R. and Carrie (Hainly) Dieter. From 1954-1960, Mr. Dieter served as a Police Officer for the City of Reading, then from 1960-1974 served as Sgt. of Lower Alsace Police Department. He was last employed by Meridian Bank in the maintenance department for 4 years last working in 1990. He served in the United States Army in Korea and was past president of FOP Lodge 71 and past tres. and adjutant for American Legion Post 12 of Reading. Mr. Dieter was a member of St. Catharine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, Mt. Penn. In addtion to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Richard D. Jr. husband of Juanita A. Dieter of Shillington and Glenn A. husband of Doreen S. Dieter of Blandon and his daughters, Patricia A. Lesher of Kenhorst and Carol L. wife of Kevin M. Lash of Mohnton. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 17 step-grandchildren, 7 step-great grandchildren and 1 step-great great grandchild. Also surviving is a brother Lynton H. Dieter of Manheim and sisters, June Gehring of Reading and Jean wife of Albert D. Hafer of Fleetwood. Mr. Dieter is also survived by step-sons, Clarence V. Heffner of Myerstown, Kenneth R. Miller of Reading, Glenn D. Miller of Bethel and Ralph J. Miller of Boyertown along with step-daughters, Cecelia M. Riegel of West Lawn, Sandra A. Kreider of Reading and Norine A. Zatratz of Wyomissing.

Contributions may be made to St. Catharine of Siena Church Memorial Fund in memory of Mr. Richard D. Dieter, Sr.

Visitation:

The family will receive friends at church Wednesday 9:30-10:45 am.

Service:

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Catharine of Siena Church, 2427 Perkiomen Ave. Mt. Penn, PA 19606 Wednesday at 11:00 am. Rev. Monsignor Edward R. Domin celebrant.

Cemetery:

Interment in Forest Hills Memorial Park.
