CSA, Florida - William Moreau Bostwick, was a Hospital Steward in the Medical Corps. His service is shown in the Confederate Archives, Chapter 5, File No. 21, age 38 from June 1862 up to and including 18 May 1865. The records further show that he appears on the Receipt Roll, General Hospital, Lake City, Florida and on the Hospital Muster Roll. He also appears on a Roll of Prisoners of War belonging to the Confederate Army, surrendered by Maj. Gen. Sam Jones, commanding Confederate forces in Florida to Brig. Gen. I. Vogdes, U.S.V./commanding U.S. Forces in Florida in compliance with the terms of a Military Convention made on 26 April 1865 at Bennett's House, near Durham, N.C. between Gen. J. E. Johnston of the Confederate Forces and Major General W. T. Sherman, U.S.A. and approved by Gen. Grant, U.S.A.

William was a member of Robert E. Lee Camp 58, United Confederate Veterans, He was bestowed a Cross of Honor by Martha Reid Chapter 19, UDC on 27 September 1914.
