E. Joye Tabeling, 81, passed away Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010, at Morning Pointe in Franklin. She was a longtime resident of Franklin.

She was born Jan. 27, 1929, in White­land, to Harry and Mild­red (Brew­er) Porter. She married Jerry Tabeling on May 17, 1952. He preceded her in passing in 2002.

Survivors include a son, Mark (Linda) Tabeling of Franklin; two grandchildren, Dana (John) Christenson of Bargersville and Cady Tabeling of Franklin; two brothers, Ed Porter of Southport and Tony Porter of Franklin; a nephew, Les (Wanda) Tabeling; and a niece, Gina Bridges.

She was preceded in passing by her parents and a brother, Bill Porter.

Joye was a graduate of White­land Community High School. She received her bachelor's degree from Franklin College and her master's degree from Butler Univer­sity.

She was a guidance counselor and teacher at Clark-Pleasant Community School Corp., retiring in 1987.

She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and Hillview Country Club, both in Franklin.

The Rev. John Beitans will conduct a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 114 Lancelot Drive, Franklin. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
