Mrs. Mable Elizabeth Jones Adair, 85, of St. Simons Island and formerly of Atlanta, died Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at her residence.

Mrs. Adair was a native of Eufaula, AL and had been a resident of St. Simons Island for the past 32 years. She was past President of Rabun Gap Nacoochee Club in Atlanta and a member of the Sea Island Garden Club, Sea Island Skimmers, Ocean Forest Club and the Cassina Garden Club. She was also a founding member of the Communities of Coastal Georgia Foundation, a board member of the Southeast Georgia Health System Foundation, and was a member of the St. Simons Presbyterian Church.

She was predeceased by her husband, Forrest Adair, III and a step-daughter Elsa Adair.

Survivors are a son, Frank Dallas Strickland (Judy) of Atlanta; two daughters, Julia Adair Janas (Steve) of Marietta and Ruth Adair Stephenson (Keith) of St. Simons Island; a step-son, Forrest Dodd Adair (Janet) of Birmingham, AL; eleven grandchildren, Dallas Strickland, Jr., Dorsey Manning, Dawson Strickland, Forrest Strickland, Caroline Bradford, Melanie Janas, Melissa Kent, Robert Stephenson, Lauren Adair, David Adair and Scott Adair; four great grandchildren; a sister, Margaret Williams of Gainesville, GA; and a devoted family friend, William "Billy" Smith and his wife, Lauretta.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, July 3, 2010 in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Reverend Wright Culpepper officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be the Staff of Coastal Nurse Care. The body will lie in state for one hour prior to the service. Entombment will be in Westview Cemetery in Atlanta at a later date.

The family requests in lieu of flowers contributions be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, GA, 31520 or the Faithworks Ministry, P. O. Box 2902, Brunswick, GA, 31521.
