William D. "Bill" Dluzak, 86, 537 N. Wabash St., Wabash, died at 9:16 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010, at Wabash County Hospital.
He was born on April 29, 1924, in Wabash, the son of Charles H. and Alice H. (Carver) Dluzak.
He married Rosalia "Rosie" L. Karst on Nov. 19, 1955. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Joe A. (Kathy) Dluzak, Roanoke, Phil Dluzak, Fort Wayne, and John (Jenny) Dluzak, Fort Wayne; four daughters, Pam S. Dluzak, Fort Wayne, Karla M. Dluzak, Wabash, Linda (Dave) Luegring, Fort Wayne, and Judy A. Dluzak, Fort Wayne; a sister, Martha J. Shoemaker, Wabash; 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and two sisters.
A lifetime Wabash resident, Mr. Dluzak was a Soil Conservation Service technician, retiring Oct. 1, 1991, after 27 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Wabash. He also was a member of Right to Life, the American Life Lobby and the American Family Association.
Bill also co-owned a John Deere Dealership with his brother, Chuck, in North Manchester. He also was a farmer for many years. He was a 1942 graduate of Urbana High School. He also was the champion of the 1955 Indiana Contour Plowing Match.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Wabash, with Father Sextus Don officiating. #Burial will be in Falls Cemetery, Wabash. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Ave., Wabash. A Rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Preferred memorials are to the St. Bernard's Catholic Church, the L.I.F.E. Center or Friends in Service Here (F.I.S.H.)
