Lance Cpl. Kevin M. Cornelius, 20, of Ashtabula, Ohio died Aug. 7 while supporting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C. His survivors include his father, Gerald E. and Marlene Cornelius of Ashtabula; his mother, Valerie and Bob Silleck of Ashtabula; one brother, 2LT Eric V. Cornelius of Ft. Rucker, AL; his grandparents, Carmen "Lefty" Corbissero and Celeste Corbissero, both of Ashtabula; his step-brothers, Robert Fortune, and John "Jack" Fortune, his step-sister, Kelly Romano, his aunt, Vanessa Petrosky; three uncles, Carl Corbissero, William E. Cornelius, Jr., and Theodore E. Cornelius; and numerous cousins, extended family, and friends.
