Peter Ludvig Sivertsen was born in Verdal, Nordre Trondhjem (modern Trøndelag County), Norway on 20 December 1871 to Sivert Olsen Roswold and Inger Oline Larsdatter Roswold. Sivert emigrated to the USA in 1873; Peter arrived in the USA with his mother, half-sister Beret Anna, and brother Iver Marius in 1874. In the USA, they were known by the last name Olesen, before the family adopted the surname Roswold. Peter passed away on 11 Sep 1874 in Calumet, Michigan due to "intermittent fever", according to the official record of death, just 10 days after the death of Iver Marius. Peter and Iver are both buried at Adkinsville Cemetery in Douglas County, Minnesota, where the family moved to after leaving Michigan.
