CORSICANA — Services for retired Command Sgt. Maj. Samuel E. "Sam" Adams, 80, of Killeen will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pershing Park Baptist Church in Killeen.

Burial will follow in Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen with military honors.

Mr. Adams died Wednesday, Aug. 4, in a Killeen hospital.

He was born on Jan. 6, 1930, in Atlanta, Ga. He was a graduate of Hudson High School in Macon, Ga., where he was a drum major. On March 25, 1951, he married Lois Austin. He served 30 years in the U.S Army, retiring in 1979. His decorations include a Silver Star medal, the Bronze Star medal and the Meritorious Service Medal.

Survivors include his wife of Killeen; three sons, Geogory Adams of Temple, Michael Adams of Irving and Andre Adams of Austin; two daughters, Wilhelmenia Howard of Dayton and Renata Adams of Killeen; a brother, Jerry Adams of Atlanta; a sister, Annie Ruth of Raleigh, N.C.; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

A wake will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
