From H. Gail Davis circa 1950:
"Samuel Frey born January 1, 1795; died April 24, 1861, aged 65 years, 3 months and 24 days.

From Frey's Valley Moravian Church records
Married brother, husband of Christina Frey, son of the late Abraham Frey after whom Frey's Valley is named. He suffered for more than 15 years of a lamed back. In recent years it is believed he became a true child of God who glorified his Lord in his suffering. This pastor visited him the evening before his death, found him in usual health, though he mentioned that it might be my last visit. At breakfast the next morning a severe chest pain overtook him and he was brought to bed only a few minutes before his death. He is survived by his mother [ed. - this should read wife] twelve children and forty four grandchildren.
-- C.L. Reinke, Pastor."
He had 6 children with first wife, Sarah Simmers; Enoch, Mary Ann Routh, Jesse, John, Daniel and Abraham
He had 6 children with second wife, Anna Christina Rank; Joseph, Susan Elizabeth Barr, Benjamin {died in civil war}, Lydia Matilda Ramseyer, William Theopholis, and David Peter {died in civil war}.
