He was the son of Drew Clifton Deason and Lula Denby Deason of Kannapolis, North Carolina. His brothers were John L and James Deason.

He entered the service 10 October 1942 at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and served in England beginning in 1944. At the time of his enlistment, he was married.

He was in combat for only two weeks when he was killed in action in France.

He was awarded the EAMET Medal and the Purple Heart.
