Some say William Roark was born in Ireland...some say NC. I think we're talking about 2 William Roarks - both Revolutionary War Vets. Our William served in Rolston's Company, 1st North Carolina Malitia Regiment, as a musician. I've heard nothing about him being captured. Their William was captured, taken to Canada & held there as a POW for a while.

Our William married Sarah Dorris & they lived in NC, TN & KY. Our William founded and built the Puncheon Camp Creek Church where he was Pastor until his death. Our William had: Samuel Reuben, Sarah Poe, Levi, John, Josiah, Asa, Permelia Tudor, William, Mariah Driver, Elijah, Elizabeth "Betsy" Dyson, Joel, Nancy Stinson & Margaret "Peggy" R. Pipkin. He mentions all sons but Asa in his will...but Asa's mentioned elsewhere. He also mentions 2 deceased daughters Sarah Poe & Mariah Driver. He don't mention Permelia, Elizabeth, Nancy or Peggy but Elizabeth & Nancy's husbands are mentioned. Our William was supposedly buried in Allen County KY. Hopefully we find his headstone (& Sarah's) soon.

He may be buried at Puncheon Camp Creek Church Cemetery.
