Mable Irene Hays - Mable [Mabel] Irene Hays [Hayes], age 95, was born April 9, 1902 at Le Grand, Iowa to parents Aaron and Elena Inman. She died on April 28,1997 at Mercy Hospital of Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Mable spent most of her growing up years in Missouri and Kansas. She married Glen Hays [Hayes] on October 22, 1918 and they settled in South Dakota. They later moved to the Sharpsburg, Iowa area where they farmed until their retirement, when they moved to Bedford. To this union nine children were born.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Richard Hays, four brothers and two grandchildren who died at birth.

She is survived by her daughter, Garland and husband Bud Nissen of Omaha, Nebraska, son Paul and wife Shirley Hays of Omaha, Nebraska, daughter Ruth Huddle of Omaha, Nebraska, daughter Lola and husband Russ Wright of Spencer, Iowa, son Vernon and wife Joan Hays of Glenwood, Iowa, daughter-in-law Wilma Hays of Lenox, Iowa, son Dean and wife Jeannine Hays of Osage Beach, Missouri, son Dennis and wife Ruth Hays of Ellston, Iowa, daughter Jeannette and husband Harold Williams of Kellerton, Iowa; twenty four grandchildren; many great grandchildren, and several great great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Nettie Thompson of Garretson, South Dakota and many nieces and nephews.

While she lived in the Bedford area, she and her husband had been baptized and became members of the First Baptist Church of Bedford. Sometime after her husband's death, twenty-six years ago, she moved to Clarinda, Iowa and then later to the Omaha, Nebraska area. She spent her last four years at the Risen Son Christian Village Nursing Home of Council Bluffs, Iowa. Here she resided until her last illness.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Novinger Taylor Funeral Home with services conducted Friday, May 2, 1997 at 1:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Bedford with Pastor Jamie Mogler officiating. Burial was at Lexington Cemetery of rural Taylor County Iowa.
