CHURCH HILL-Mrs. Effie Mae Long Gray, 86, died at 9:30 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 7, 1991) at the Life Care Center, Church Hill, following a long illness.
Mrs. Gray was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County, and was a member of McPheeters Bend Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Howard Gray, August, 1973; one daughter, Louise Marsh; one son, Kenneth Gray; her parents, John and Addie Long; and several brothers and sisters.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Charles (Marie) Carey, Church Hill[ two sons John T. Gray and Samuel Eugene Gray,both of Church Hill; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Ora Cupp, Kingsport; two brothers, Clay Long, Church Hill, and David Long, Independance, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the residence of Mrs. Marie Carey, 560 South Morgan St., Church Hill; and also at the residence of Mr. Eugene Gray, River Rd., Church Hill.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the McPheeters Bend Baptist Church with thr Rev. Larry Parrott and the Rev. Gary Gerhardt officiating.
The body will be taen to the church one hour prior to the servives. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
