SALT LAKE CITY - Funeral services for Demar D. "Pete" Laird, 50, who died Tuesday of a heart attack in a Salt Lake City hospital, will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary.
Mr. Laird has several relatives in Utah County, including his mother.
He was born June 12, 1923 in Standardville, Carbon County, a son of David and Martha Davies Laird. On Nov. 16, 1944 he married Blanche K. Hodge in Pasco, Wash.
Mr. Laird was a Mason and a veteran of World War II. He managed the Beehive Baseball League.
Survivors include his widow and one son, Jack Laird, Murray; one granddaughter; his mother, Provo; three brothers and four sisters, Robert D. Laird, Mrs. Orvil (Pat) Richins, and Mrs. Etta Hinkins, all of Provo; David Laird, Orem; Mrs. Carl (Dorothy) Mecham, Springville; Vern Ray Laird, Salt Lake City, and Mrs. Amel (Rachel) Elder, New Mexico.
Friends may call at the mortuary Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 30 minutes prior to services. Burial will be in Murray City Cemetery.
