WOODBRIDGE - The war death toll in the Township continued to grow this week as four more names were added to make a total of 93 men, who have died in the service of their country.

S/Sgt. Ralph V. Favale, son of Michael Favale, was killed on January 9, somewhere in France. As he was a member of the National Guard he was inducted into the regular Army with the first contingent to leave Woodbridge. His mother died a short time ago.

He went overseas some time in Aug., 1944. The Port Reading man wrote home recently describing a close call he had. He said he was bending over, digging a foxhole when a mortar fragment clipped a neat little path through the back of his helmet and ripped his shirt right off his back without even scratthng him.

A mass for the repose of his soul will be sung February 9 at 10:00 A.M., at St. Anthony's Church by Rev. Fucci, former pastor, and close friend, of the deceased.

Sgt. Favale is the nephew of James Catano, well-known Sewaren resident and Pasquale Montazzoli, Green Street shoemaker.
