He resided in Hamburg, Erie County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on February 4, 1943 in Buffalo, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in a machine shop and also as Single, without dependents.

B-17G #42-32028 experienced engine trouble from enemy flak which caused the crew to bailout. While bailing out Louis' parachute didn't open.

Louis was "Killed In Action" during the war.

He was awarded a Air Medal and a Purple Heart.
