Civil War Union Soldier. He was enrolled at Titusville, Crawford County in the 83rd Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry on July 29, 1861. Mustered in as a Private in Company A on August 21, 1861, he served until he was killed in action at Laurel Hill, Virginia on May 8, 1864.

He was the son of Isaac Story (1798-1862) and Lucy Ann Perry Story (1809-1899). There is a marker for him in their family plot in the Mentor Municipal Cemetery, Mentor, Lake County, Ohio, but it is likely a cenotaph, since National Cemetery records still list him as being interred in the Fredericksburg National Cemetery in Site 1374.

Pennsylvania Adjutant General records lists his last name as "Storey".
