He "Died Of Wounds" received in the bombing of an airfield on Corsica while serving as a grounds crewman.

He had served in the Air Corps for two years and one month at the time of his death and was decorated with a Purple Heart, Presidental Unit Citation, and the African and European Campaign Ribbons with two stars.
