Age 88, he was one of Erie's best-known businessmen. More than 50 years ago, he opened Dee's Cigar Store at the corner of West 18th and Peach Streets, later moving the business to its current location at 1705 State St. Generations of Erie residents bought their cigarettes and cigars at Dee's. When cigar-smoking became fashionable in the mid- to late-1990s, Dee's carried pricey brands, like Arturo Fuente, which sold for $13.50 each. Long before supermarkets carried out-of-town newspapers, Dee's was a regular Sunday stop, where long-time customers would buy their favorite newspapers-- The New York Times, the Chicago Tribune the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, The Cleveland Plain Dealer, among others. Adiutori also ran the Spa Club at West 12th and States streets for a number of years. Among the performers who played the Spa was Freddy Cole, the brother of the late Nat "King" Cole.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Wright Adiutori (d September 1984, age 72); a grandson; four sisters, Helen Carmosino, Josephine DeBello, Philomena Gamble and Esther Canella; and two brothers, Alfred Adiutori and Lidano Adiutori Jr.

Survivors include three daughters, Dolores Ulrich, Lorraine Calafato and her husband, Sam, and Mary Lou Nepach; three sons, Thomas Adiutori and his wife, Patricia, Frank Adiutori and John M. Adiutori and his wife, Susan, all of Erie; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
