Carl Frederick Anderson, one of Varna's aged and most respected citizens answered God's summons and entered into etermal sleep early Wednesday morning, March 11, 1924. Mr. Anderson was able to be around almost to the end and enjoyed greeting his friends when coming into town with his son, David and family.
Carl Frederick Anderson was born in Ostergotland, Sweden, September 19, 1846. He came to America in 1871.
On February 22, 1874, he was united in marriage to Mis Johanna Nyman and to this union were born seven children.
During his active life, he was engaged in farming and at the time he retired he was living on the A. E. Hoffert farm.
They purchased a cozy little little home in the northeast part of town and were just nicely settled when death entered this home, taking their son Lawrence into the great beyond, a young man of stalwart character..
In 1919 his wife also passed away and as he was slowly failing in health, he gave up his home and went into the country to make his home with his son, David and family, where he received the best of care and attention and at whose home he quietly passed away March 12, 1924, at the age of 79 years, 5 months, and 22 days.
The funeral services were held at the Swedish Lutheran church Friday.
Mr. Anderson was a devout christian and an active worker in his church as long as his health permitted, being a deacon in the church for over 30 years.
The funeral services were conducted by his pastor, Rev. Karl A. Nillson, and many beautiful floral pieces were tributes of affection.
He was laid to rest in the Lutheran cemetery just northeast of town (First Lutheran # 1).
He leaves one son, David, to mourn his loss, his wife and six children preceding him and his three grandchildren will miss this aged man who has aided them in their home life for a number of years.
