DUCKTOWN, Tenn., Aug. 3-- Thomas Jefferson Addington, 85, veteran merchant of Harbuck, Tenn., near here, died at his home today after an illness of one year.
Born in Morganton, Ga., he had been a resident of Polk Countyfor 40 years and had resided in Harbuck for 16 years.
He was a postmaster at Ducktown for 12 years and served as deputy sheriff in every term of the Biggs administration. He was a member of Ducktown Lodge 241, F&AM, and of the Ducktown Methodist Church.
Surviving are one son, Grover Addington of Maryville, Tenn., and a daughter, Mrs. Lucille Mae Young of Harbuck; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Zion Hill Baptist Church Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock by the Revs. John M. Watkins and S. M. Wolfe and burial will follow in the church cemetery, with Ducktown Masons in charge of the graveside ritual.
