Born in *Petersburg (later known as "What Cheer"), IA, his family moved to Pottawattamie County where he married Tacie Moat Childre near Oakland, IA, Dec. 30, 1897. Witnesses were brother Joel Carmel Perkins and sister, Ruth E. Worrell.

Owning and working a family farm, raising 6 children, one died in her second year, Wesley was a dedicated Methodist and became a Mason.

After the depression, he and wife Tacie moved to California where they resided in East Los Angeles and later on a farm, in the midst of massive orange groves in La Sierra in Riverside County.

Wesley passed away in California on Feb. 13, 1952 due to complications from Leukemia and was buried at Carson Cemetery, Carson, IA where his wife Tacie would be later buried.

*Note: What Cheer, Keokuk Co, IA was called "Petersburg" from founding in 1865 and officially changed to "What Cheer," December 1, 1879
