Mary E. Ackermann, 89, of Davenport, died Saturday, November 1, 2008 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf. Funeral services will be Monday, November 3, 2008 at 11:30 am at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Monday from 10:30 until the service at the mortuary. Burial will be in Mt Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Memorials may be made to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.

Mary was born March 1, 1919 in Davenport, the daughter of Edgar and Emma (Staack) Stanley. She was united in marriage to John Ackermann, Sr. on August 30, 1940 in Davenport; he died July 21, 1995.

She had worked at Eastin Pictures from 1942 until 1946 and later worked at Eastin-Phelan Corporation from 1962 until 1979. She was a past member of the Davenport Police Women's Auxiliary and was an avid shopper and golfer. Her greatest joy was cooking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Those left to honor her memory include a son, John "Jack" Jr. and his wife, Connie, Davenport, daughter, Sunny and her husband, Bill Horstmann, Wheatland, IA, grandchildren: Barb (Tray) Schuldt, Moline, Chris Ackerman, Davenport, Ky Soucinek and his fiancé, Julie Collins, Bettendorf, Mike (Lynn) Ackerman, Davenport, and Kelli (Joe) Akers, Davenport, step granddaughters: Penny (Jeff) Vacek, Oxford Junction, IA and Colleen Casper, North Liberty, IA; 8 great grandchildren, and 4 step great grandchildren.

Her parents, brother, Harold "Sonny" Stanley and a sister, Lillian Schroeder preceded her in death.
