Shirley Acker, 74, of Boynton Beach, passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2008, surrounded by her loving family. Originally from New York, Shirley has resided in Palm Beach County for the past 18 years. Having received a medical technician's degree, she also worked many years in the cosmetic industry. She is the daughter of Miriam and Rabbi Isaac Sonnenfeld, now deceased, who was the grandson of the chief rabbi of Palestine, Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld.
Shirley is survived by her devoted children, Karen, Mark and David, and their spouses, and her beloved grandchildren, Adam, Marissa, Ian and Charlie. She is also survived by her brother, Joseph Sonnenfeld, who resides in Colorado. Shirley will be remembered by her family and many friends for her love and generosity.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, 12 noon, at Menorah Gardens Funeral Chapel, 9321 Memorial Park Road, West Palm Beach, (516) 627-2277. After services, friends and family were invited to pay their respects at the home of Shirley Acker. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society.
