January 7, 1892 he married Minnie "Lou" Smith, daughter of Van Buren Smith and Nancy Jane Shockley Smith, in Bastrop County. The couple were parents to ten children with 5 surviving to adulthood.
February 16, 1908, Frank Catchings died of pneumonia at age 36 at his home in Red Rock, TX. His widow was left at age 33 to rear their children with the help of her father and brothers. Frank is buried in the Old Red Rock Cemetery along with his wife, Lou, and other family members.
