Wilbur George Jones of 220 West Logan Stree, Clarinda, Iowa passed away suddenly, Monday September 20, 1971. The son of Isaac and Mary Ann McCullough Jones, he was born near Allerton, Iowa on August 14, 1891. He moved to Page County with his parents, at an early age.
He was united in marriage to Letta Hutchinson on November 27, 1912 at New Market, Iowa. He farmed in the Page and Taylor County area until 1955, when he moved to his present home. He was employed at the Clarinda Auction Company from 1964 until the time of his death.
Mr. Jones was a member of the First Christian church, at Clarinda. He always enjoyed life to the fullest and was ever ready to do for others by lending a helping hand.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Letta of the home; one son, Eldon of Sedalia, Mo.; one grandson, Richard of Iowa City, Iowa; three great grandchildren; Brian, Melissa, and Mitchell, all of Iowa City, Iowa; three sisters; Mrs. Rhoda O'Dell of Clarinda, Mrs. Clara Baker of Gravity, and Mrs. Lola Luellen of New Market; many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; one daughter, Verla; seven brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 22, 1971 from the Walker Funeral Home in Clarinda, with interment in Old Memory Cemetery at New Market, Iowa. Serving as pallbearers were Dale Crawford, Clark Crawford, Wade Crawford, Dewey Combs, Frank Kent, and Roy Kincheloe.
