"Obituary - Mrs. Fremont S. Giles

Mrs. Esther M. Giles, 76 of Route 27 Boothbay, died Friday, November 19 at a Portland hospital following a brief illness.

She was the wife of Fremont S. Giles.

She was born at Southport, December 1, 1894, the daughter of Charles and Susan Plummer Gray. She was educated at Southport schools and graduated from Lincoln Academy. She also attended Gorham Normal School.

Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, Marshall W. Giles of Farmingdale; two daughters, Mrs. Susan Pendleton of Boothbay and Mrs. David (Flora) Jones of Bartlett, N.H.; three brothers, Charles Gray of Edgecomb, Maurice and Sydney Gray of Southport; two sisters, Mrs. Chester Sherman and Mrs. Elizabeth Bryer, both of Southport; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held at the Simmons and Harrington Funeral Home in Boothbay Harbor on Sunday, Nov. 21, with Rev. Robert Orr of the First Baptist Church of West Gardiner Officiating. Bearers were Frank Lenthall, Jim Wilmot, Maurice Sherman, Irving Giles, Roger Gray, and David Bryer. Burial was in Ocean View Cemetery, Boothbay."
